Traveler, there are no roads. Roads are made by walking
or what is this Substack about?
“Traveler, there are no roads. Roads are made by walking”.
This has been my life motto and email signature for over quarter of a century. In that quarter of a century, I have forked out to an untrodden path many times:
Started a business festival in the shadow of the dotcom bust with a very unlikely sounding name: Vista at IIM Bangalore
Started the first innovation program at an IT Services company: TCS COIN
Started India’s first EIR program
Cofounded Tata CRL that made the 4th fastest supercomputer in the World: Eka
Cofounded India’s largest early stage startup community: Headstart
Started India’s first Mortgagetech startup: SwitchMe. Pivoted it to a B2B model with a new name: AMORQA and finally exited it to the ill fated 4B Network.
This blog continues to be about making roads – exploring new ideas, questions, thoughts and directions that grab my attention and sometime ruminations on the past to draw out lessons. I share my explorations here for two reasons:
Writing Clarifies Thought: Writing helps me refine my ideas – reading them helps me edit them and organize them better.
Thoughts progress through conversations: Conversations lead to new perspectives, expose gaps and challenge my conclusions. I hope this content sparks discussions that help me learn faster.
But, my explorations remain my own and not that of the readers – these are the questions I am interested in and may or may not match your expectations!
So, as a reader, why should you care? I don’t know actually but I hope that some of the areas that interest me, may interest you as well - startups, technology, technology adoption, AI, community and organization dynamics, India, economics and finance.
